The project

Adopt 4m² of a melon plot from "Bioric" in POMEROLS (France) and receive your organic melons at home. Mohand will take care of your adoption and take its picture. You will also be able to download the adoption certificate, and if you wish, plan your visit to the farm. You do not enter into any long-term commitment: Although your adoption will be renewed automatically, you will always be informed in advance and may decide to cancel your adoption at any time in case the preparation has not started yet.

What do you adopt?

You adopt 4m² of a melon plot from our farm in POMEROLS (France). The cultivation here is certified as organic by the European Union as of 2012. We have chosen to produce the yellow Charentais melon for its taste. It is also the melon historically produced in France. Originally from Africa, the melon is said to have arrived in France around the 15th century, and was cultivated in Charente, from where it takes its name. The life of the melon begins in a nursery, where the seeds are put into small clods of soil for them to grow into the melon plant. After one month, the plant reaches 15 cm, and can be planted manually. It is a creeping plant with sapling stems. We prepare the soil at the end of winter, forming mounds with a bed former. We then lay a "mulch" to warm the soil and control weeds. We then manually place a melon plant in each hole. To protect the young plants from rain and wind, hoops are installed along the rows to make a caterpillar-like tunnel with plastic film. We then remove them and recycle them as and when the plants grow before flowering. The melon plant produces male and female flowers, but only female flowers, properly pollinated by bees, will produce a melon. We then harvest the fully mature melons every day at between 60 and 90 days after planting. Your melon plot produces an average of 28.8kg of organic melons each season. You do not have to commit to ordering the entire harvest though. Each season you can decide how much you want to reserve, and you pay the maintenance cost according to that amount. This way you only pay for what you plan to consume, and we can offer any surplus harvest to others.

What will you receive?

You can reserve between 0 and 0 boxes for the season, and then progressively plan theit delivery for any of the delivery dates available in the shipment calendar. Shipping format: __4.8kg box of organic melons__ * Yellow Charentais:

When will you receive it?

We harvest the melons every day between June and September. We can therefore send them to you during this period.

Why should you adopt?
Know who, how and where your food is produced. Source your food in a conscious, direct and consistent manner.
Buying without intermediaries allows the producer to obtain better prices. This helps generate better jobs and social standards in rural areas.
When you adopt something, you allow the producer to ensure the sale at a fixed price and to produce on demand. This also avoids wasting food that is grown without being sold.
It supports producers who strive for environmentally friendly packaging and cultivation practices.
