The project

Adopt a blueberry bush from the "Biohof Wencker" farm in Voltlage (Germany) and receive your Bioland organic blueberry juice at home. Uwe will take care of your adoption and take its picture. You will also be able to download the adoption certificate, and if you wish, plan your visit to the farm. You do not enter into any long-term commitment: Although your adoption will be renewed automatically, you will always be informed in advance and may decide to cancel your adoption at any time as long as the preparation has not yet begun.

What do you adopt?

You adopt a blueberry bush from our farm in Voltlage (Germany). The cultivation has been certified as organic by the European Union and as Bioland as of 2021. From the blueberries that are not suitable for fresh consumption, we have been producing blueberry juice since 2022. When placing the adoption you can choose a name which we will use to identify your blueberry bush. This blueberry bush, sometimes called dwarf bush, is about 60cm high, grows quite high and straight, and delivers about 4 kg of blueberries every season from which we can produce at least 0.7 litres of naturally cloudy blueberry juice. Highbush blueberries (botanical name '*Vaccinium corymbosum*') are descended from a North American wild berry species and can be grown well in temperate oceanic or continental climates. You may have been lucky enough to pick the wild variety called 'bilberry' in the forest; unfortunately they are becoming increasingly rare. Like the blueberry, the bilberry is rich in anthocyanin, contains important minerals and trace elements and is full of vitamins. We have specialised in the blueberry varieties Duke, Draper and Liberty, as these have very good yields and excellent qualities in our growing area, and the different varieties allow us to harvest fresh blueberries over a long period of time. The blueberry harvest starts at the end of June with the Duke variety and ends in mid-September with the Liberty variety. Already during the harvest we have berries that are not suitable for fresh sale and which are processed into juice. This means that fresh juice is available every year at the end of the blueberry season. Your adoption is 21 years old and its maximum lifespan is 30 years. For as long as you want to keep your adoption, and we can continue taking care of it, you can renew year after year. If your adoption stops producing for any reason, we will replace it with another, and guarantee you the delivery from the production of other units. Your adoption produces an average of 4kg of Bioland organic blueberries each season. With this amount we can produce around 0.7l of Bioland organic blueberry juice.

What will you receive?

Each season we will send you a box with: 3 x __Bioland organic blueberry juice__ (0.7l, glass bottles) Our blueberry juice is a spectacle of colours! Bright red-blue, it consists of 100% of our own blueberries - without any additives. The juice is therefore very fruity and not too sweet, as you might be used to from conventional juices. In our opinion, it tastes best when well chilled. You can also enjoy the juice very well as a spritzer. Unopened, the juice can be stored at room temperature for a good year, but opened bottles should be kept in the fridge and consumed within a few days.

When will you receive it?

The harvest season usually starts at the end of June and goes until mid-September. Of course, there may be deviations due to weather conditions. Already during the harvest season, we have berries that are not suitable for fresh sale and processed into juice. The fresh juice is then available every year from mid-September. We offer you several shipping dates throughout the year.

Why should you adopt?
Know who, how and where your food is produced. Source your food in a conscious, direct and consistent manner.
Buying without intermediaries allows the producer to obtain better prices. This helps generate better jobs and social standards in rural areas.
When you adopt something, you allow the producer to ensure the sale at a fixed price and to produce on demand. This also avoids wasting food that is grown without being sold.
It supports producers who strive for environmentally friendly packaging and cultivation practices.
