Adopt 25m² of a soybean field from "Biohof Roth" in Deutsch Jahrndorf (Austria) and receive your organic soybeans at home. Barbara will take care of your adoption and take its picture. You will also be able to download the adoption certificate, and if you wish, plan your visit to the farm. You do not enter into any long-term commitment: Although your adoption will be renewed automatically, you will always be informed in advance and may decide to cancel your adoption at any time as long as the preparation has not yet begun.
You adopt 25m² of a soybean field from our farm in Deutsch Jahrndorf (Austria). The cultivation here is certified as organic by the European Union as of 2008. The soybean is an annual plant from the fabacea (papilionaceous plants) family, as are peas, lentils and beans. Its Latin name is* glycine max*. This crop plant originally comes from Japan and China, where it has been documented as a food crop since 3050 BC. To this day, the soybean is a staple food in many Asian countries, providing a large amount of the protein supply. It is an annual herbaceous plant that looks very similar to the black bean plant. It self-sows every year. We have been growing soybeans for seven years. The plant loves nutrient and humus-rich soil. It is grown in rows at the beginning of May. Weed control is performed both mechanically and manually. The need for watering depends on the weather. It is threshed at the end of September, when it has already dried in the field. We chose the Mentor variety because it has a beautiful white grain and a very good taste. Each soybean field produces an average of 5kg of organic soybeans per season.
Each season we will send you a box with: 5 kg of __organic soybeans __(paper bag) * Mentor: beautiful white grain with a diameter of approximately 50mm - an ideal, edible soybean * Organic farming certified by the European Organic Farming label since 2008 * The soybean can be enjoyed cooked as a vegetable, processed into tofu, or roasted and seasoned as snack food * We have deliberately ensured that the packaging and labelling are environmentally friendly, recyclable, and plastic-free * We recommend that you store the soybeans in a dry, cool and dark place and consume them within 18 months of harvesting
When will you receive it?
We sow the soybeans at the end of April or beginning of May, depending on the weather, and harvest them in September. Because we thresh quite deeply, they need to be cleaned afterwards to remove stones and other impurities as much as possible. We can then send you the fresh harvest from the beginning of November and in the following months.
