The project

Adopt a tangerine tree of our farm "Bio Agrumi Monasteri" in Floridia SR (Italy) and receive your harvest in the form of Organic tangerines at home. The Farmer Angelo will take care for your adoption and take its picture. Also, you will be able to download the adoption certificate and, if you wish, plan your visit to the farm. You do not enter into any long-term commitment: once you receive your harvest and you enjoyed the experience, you may decide to renew and extend the adoption.

What do you adopt?

Adopt a tangerine tree that we cultivate under the Organic Farming regulations of the European Union since 2000. During the process of adoption you can choose a name that we will engrave on a plaque and hang on your tree. We have been growing citrus fruits in these areas for over 40 years and we are still a family-run farm with me, Valeria, my wife, Renato and Sara, my two children who live and work in the farm with me. Our Tardivo di Ciaculli tangerine has a very thin skin with an extremely intense orange aroma. It may contain a lot of seeds, this is what makes it different from other tangerines. The taste, however, is very intense. Whenever you peel the tangerine, its perfume can linger in the room for a long while. The productive life of a tangerine tree is around 30 years. For as long as you want to keep it and we can continue taking care of it, you can renew your adoption year after year. If your tangerine tree dies, we will replace it with no additional cost and assuring the delivery of your harvest from other trees. Each tangerine tree bears an average of 72kg per season.

What will you receive?

During harvest season you can progressively receive the quantity of harvest that you reserve on the moment of adoption. You will be able to receive a minimum of 2 boxes, which can be increased up to 9 boxes according to your needs. Shipping format: __6kg box of Tardivo di Ciaculli tangerines__ * Tardivo di Ciaculli (mid-January until the end of april) It has a very intense aroma around the peel which is very rich in natural oil, very thin peel, can have lots of seeds inside * Organic farming certified by the European Organic Farming seal since 2000 * Harvested from the tree on request and shipped directly to your home in a cardboard box without plastics * We do not store the fruit in cold chambers, they go directly from the tree to your doorstep * The box includes some extra fruits, in case some of them arrived damaged * One kilo contains between 6 and 10 fruits (the box contains between 36 and 60 fruits depending on the size) * If you keep them in a fresh and airy place, they can last 2-3 weeks in good condition (if you want them to last longer, you can keep them in the fridge)

When will you receive it?

The Farmer will collect your harvest on demand and just before shipment so you will receive it fresh and without post-harvest treatment (no waxes, no preservatives). Harvesting happens from January to April.

Why should you adopt?
Know who, how and where your food is produced. Source your food in a conscious, direct and consistent manner.
Buying without intermediaries allows the producer to obtain better prices. This helps generate better jobs and social standards in rural areas.
When you adopt something, you allow the producer to ensure the sale at a fixed price and to produce on demand. This also avoids wasting food that is grown without being sold.
It supports producers who strive for environmentally friendly packaging and cultivation practices.
