Adopt an olive tree from the farm "Azienda Agricola Fausto Quintieri" in Cosenza (Italy) and receive your harvest in the form of organic extra virgin olive oil at home. Nicola will take care of your adoption and take its picture. Also, you will be able to download the adoption certificate and, if you wish, plan your visit to the farm. You do not enter into any long-term commitment: once you receive your harvest and you enjoyed the experience, you may decide to renew and extend the adoption.
You adopt an olive tree from our farm in Cosenza (Italy). The cultivation here is certified as organic by the European Union since 2017. When placing the adoption you can choose a name which we will use to identify your olive tree. Calabria, together with Puglia and Sicily, is one of the regions of Italy with the highest cultivation of olives for oil production. In this region, one of the oldest varieties is the Dolce di Rossano. This is an indigenous Calabrian olive variety that is grown mainly in the upper Jonio Cosentino area of Calabria. Its origin is uncertain, but there is evidence from as early as the Middle Ages, when monks in the area revived olive cultivation, using this variety. Our centuries-old trees are on average 250 years old and have very robust trunks and the most varied shapes, so much so that they have been described as 'plant sculptures'. The fruit is round and small in size, but capable of producing a good yield. Our olives are taken to the mill and cold-pressed on the same day they are picked. In order not to disturb the birds that rest overnight in our trees, we only harvest the olives during the day. Your adoption is 250 years old and its productive life is 500 years. For as long as you want to keep your adoption, and we can continue taking care of it, you can renew year after year. If your adoption stops being able to produce for any reason, we will replace it with an other, and we guarantee your delivery from the produce of others for that season. Your olive tree produces an average of 30kg of olives each season. With this amount we can produce around 3l of organic extra virgin olive oil.
Each season we will send you a box with: 2 x __Organic extra virgin olive oil__ (3l, can) Our olives produce a dense, light green oil that tends to lighten over time, with an intense aroma and a sweet but strong and slightly spicy flavour. In order to preserve the organoleptic characteristics of our oil to the maximum, we advise you to store it in a cool, dry place, if possible at a temperature of at least 10ºC, and to consume it within 12 months of the date of receipt. You can use our organic EVOO to dress salads and many other dishes, to enrich your recipes and you can also enjoy it on a slice of warm bread.
When will you receive it?
The olives are harvested from the end of October until the end of November. We send the oil out a few months later to allow it to decant optimally and so that it has no impurities that could spoil it during the year.
