The project

Adopt a clementine tree from the farm "Azienda Agricola Fausto Quintieri" in Cosenza (Italy) and receive your harvest in the form of organic clementines at home. The Farmer Nicola will take care of your adoption and take its picture. Also, you will be able to download the adoption certificate and, if you wish, plan your visit to the farm. You do not enter into any long-term commitment: although your adoption will be renewed automatically, you will always be informed in advance and may decide to cancel your adoption at any time as long as the preparation has not yet begun.

What do you adopt?

You adopt a clementine tree from our farm in Cosenza (Italy). The cultivation here is certified as organic by the European Union since 2017. During the process of adoption you can choose a name which we will use to identify your clementine tree. The clementine is a citrus variety originating in North Africa, born from a cross between the bitter orange and the common mandarin. Nowadays, it is cultivated in several Mediterranean countries. In Italy it was introduced between 1930 and 1950 and found a particularly suitable habitat in the Sibari Plain in Calabria, where it developed its main characteristics. The plant is aesthetically very similar to the mandarin, but the fruit has a darker skin, a sweeter taste and no seeds inside. Our clementines are prepared for dispatch immediately after harvesting and, also in compliance with organic farming standards and our company philosophy, do not undergo any kind of treatment before shipment. Your adoption is 56 years old and its productive life is around 75 years. For as long as you want to keep it and we can continue taking care of it, you can renew your adoption year after year. If your adoption dies, we will replace it with no additional cost assuring the delivery of your harvest from others. Your clementine tree produces an average of 50kg of organic clementines each season. You do not have to commit to the consumption of the whole harvest. Each season you may decide what quantity to reserve and pay the maintenance in accordance with that amount. This way you will only pay for what you consume and will be able to sell any remaining harvest to others.

What will you receive?

During harvest season you can progressively receive the quantity of harvest that you reserve at the moment of adoption. You will be able to receive a minimum of 2 boxes, which can be increased up to 10 boxes according to your needs. Shipping format:__ Box of 5kg organic clementines__ * Clementine: round fruit with an intense orange colour, it can be easily peeled and divided into segments, the segments are almost completely seedless, very fragrant and sweet * Organic farming certified by the European Organic Farming label since 2017 * Harvest on request, shipped without wax or preservative treatments in a cardboard box without plastics * We do not store the fruit in cold chambers, they go directly from the tree to your doorstep * Our trees are not a screw factory: each fruit is unique in appearance and size * One kilo contains between 5 and 7 fruits (the box contains between 25 and 35 fruits depending on the size) * If you keep them in a fresh and airy place, they can last 2 weeks in good condition (if you want them to last longer, you can keep them in the fridge) As well as eating them fresh, you can use clementines to make excellent jams or use them in your desserts.

When will you receive it?

Clementines ripen between November and December and we will send them during this period.

Why should you adopt?
Know who, how and where your food is produced. Source your food in a conscious, direct and consistent manner.
Buying without intermediaries allows the producer to obtain better prices. This helps generate better jobs and social standards in rural areas.
When you adopt something, you allow the producer to ensure the sale at a fixed price and to produce on demand. This also avoids wasting food that is grown without being sold.
It supports producers who strive for environmentally friendly packaging and cultivation practices.
