The project

Adopt {publicVariety} of our flock "{farmName}" in {cityfarm} ({countryFarm}) and receive your harvest in the form of {production} at home. The Farmer {farmerName} will take care of your adoption and take its picture. Also, you will be able to download the adoption certificate and, if you wish, plan your visit to the farm. As the production coming from one {variety} is big, the adoption is shared among various people. If you wish to have a bigger share, you may adopt more than once. You do not enter into any long-term commitment: once you receive your harvest and you enjoyed the experience, you may decide to renew and extend the adoption.

What do you adopt?
Adopt {publicVariety} from our farm in {cityfarm} ({countryFarm}). You can adopt one of our dairy cows. We keep Holstein Friesian cattle (Black and Red) on our farm as well as Fleckvieh. In terms of selection and their genetics, we focus on robustness and health, which is more important to us than the highest possible milk yield. We also optimize our husbandry and keeping conditions to make our cow’s lives healthy and comfortable. But even if we opt for farm-own, balanced and fiber-rich animal feed, for pasturage on grass whenever possible, for health instead of maximum performance, and for homeopathy, we do not have the organic label. For us, “nature does not have a label”. Our whole philosophy is orientated towards an organic and natural production and processing. However, we deliberately renounce certification since it does not correspond to our idea of a holistic approach to food production and livestock farming. Depending on the seasons, our dairy cows have daily access to pasturage and, thus, they benefit from a regular exposure to the sun and fresh air. The modern and open cowshed as well as extended access to pasturage have a positive impact on animal health. Natural livestock farming means to us that we take on the full moral responsibility for animal welfare from the first day till the last day in the life of an animal. All animals always have fresh fodder from our farm, fresh and clear water from our own well and, depending on the climatic conditions, extended access to pasturage. This positively influences the quality of milk we work with. We take the needs of the animals seriously. Thus, the calves born in our cowshed stay with its mother around two weeks in the shed together with more recently born calves around two weeks, before the whole group of calves (“friends”) move out together. We consider the cow as a social herd animal – and herd animals should never be alone. Life for us is, amongst other things, the movement of energy between all persons involved. We are convinced that good products can only be the result of respect and love shown for all persons involved. We do not participate in beauty contests or performance contests – neither with our animals nor with our products. The approval of our customers, who can always see and visit our animals, is enough recognition for us. The average age of our cows is approx. 7 years, but many animals become much older. In a small nearby family-run business, the animals are then turned into meat products for our farm shop. The productive life of {publicVariety} is around 10 years. For as long as you want to keep it and we can continue taking care of it, you can renew your adoption year after year. If your {variety} dies, we will replace it with no additional cost and assuring the delivery of your harvest from other cows. We have approx. 45 ha of land which is divided into arable land and grassland for our own fodder production as well as into pasture for livestock farming. We rear our female calves so that they become dairy cows, while we hand over our male calves to a nearby fattening farm. Each {variety} is adopted by 100 CrowdFarmers who receive boxes with {masterUnitsMax} kg of {production}. A {variety} from our farm produces an average of 8000 l each season. You do not have to commit to the consumption of the whole harvest. Each season you may decide what quantity to reserve and pay the maintenance in accordance with the amount you reserve. This way you will only pay for what you consume and we can plan and sell the remaining harvest amount from you {variety} to others.
What will you receive?
During harvest season you can progressively receive the quantity of harvest that you reserve on the moment of adoption. The master boxes contain a broad selection of our dairy products from our cows’ delicious milk: 2 x __natural yogurt__ (3,7 % of fat, 250 g each, cup) 2 x __quark__ (at least 40 % of fat, 250 g each, cup) 2 x __low-fat quark__ (at maximum 10 % of fat, 250 g each, cup) 2 x __drained farmhouse yogurt__ (at least 8 % of fat, 250 g each, cup) 1 x __processed cheese__ (at least 30 % of fat, 150 g, cup) 1 x __“Auenkäse” (“river meadow cheese”)__ (at least 200 g, vacuumed) We send our fresh products out in a recyclable carton, insulated by pressed hemp sustainably produced by the company Landpack. Moreover, we add an ice pack by Landpack which is only filled with water and not with chemical coolants. The ice packs are recyclable and refillable. From the dispatch onwards, the fresh products have a shelf life of at least two weeks. At the same time, it is important that the products are stored in a refrigerator. The lower the temperature is, the longer their shelf life is. All our manually produced delicacies are made with pasteurised full-cream milk – as naturally as possible. Accordingly, we renounce unnecessary additives and preservatives. Our cheese dairy is in the same building as our farm shop, directly opposite our house. By looking through the windows, our customers can gain an insight into our work. Transparency and direct contact with customers are both essential to us and part of our quality promise. For more than 30 years, we have been producing special delicacies. Many of our products can only be made by hand so that these have a particular and magnificent taste – a taste of freshness, nature and caring preparation.
When will you receive it?
Please, check the deadline for participating in this project (deadline for adoption) below. As of this date shipments begin. You can plan all the deliveries once you completed the adoption process. We can produce all our products for the CrowdFarmers all year round. Due to the high temperatures during the summer months we do not offer shipment dates. During the shipment season we offer many dates the CrowdFarmer can choose from.
Why should you adopt?
* Learn who produces your food, how and where. Receive your food in a conscious manner. * Buy directly from the farmer. Help to generate wealth and better jobs in the rural areas. * Plan ahead and enable the Farmer to produce on demand. This way we can avoid overproduction and fight food waste. * Reward Farmers who make an effort to use environmentally-friendly packaging and cultivation techniques.

Birgit Schulte Bisping
My name is Birgit Schulte Bisping and I am running the “Auenhof” together with my sons Sebastian, Florian and Felix as well as with the support of Maik who is involved in the agricultural part of our family business. The farm has been owned by the Schulte Bisping family for generations, and this is supposed to go on like this! We are convinced that, regarding our cheese dairy, we have found something with which we can further enrich the company on a long-term basis. In the first place, we come from very different professional sectors. Birgit is a trained photographer and she started direct marketing when she got married on the farm as a young woman. Sebastian is a qualified bank clerk and he studied business administration, so that he is now our expert for sales and business affairs. Florian is a dairy master craftsman, thus having dedicated his entire professional life to cheese. Felix is a butcher with a completed training as a master craftsman as well as a university degree in food technology. Together with Florian, he is in charge of the cheese dairy. Thanks to CrowdFarming, we have the possibility to get into contact with customers with whom we cannot currently get into contact for logistical reasons. We really like the whole concept and we are happy to be part of it!

Auenhof
Auenhof
“Auenhof” – home for handmade farmhouse products Our farm is located in the idyllic park landscape of the Münsterland (a region in North Rhine- Westphalia) and it has been run by the Schulte Bisping family for centuries. Some parts of the farm even witnessed the “Peace of Westphalia”. The Münsterland is characterised by agriculture and beautiful nature. Many enterprises, especially craft enterprises, are based here. Obviously, we are part of them, and with our products, we contribute to the beauty of the Münsterland. Due to a stroke of fate, we missed the period of modernisation and mechanisation, and many things on our farm resembled those of the past! However, in 1989, we realised that we possessed an ark and that our farm still looking so natural and hardly modernised was a real treasure! That was the beginning of direct marketing on an old, natural, Westphalian “Schulte” farm. Back then, long time ago, a manager – also known as “Schulte” – of the nearby monastery “Vinneberg” lived here. Since our farm is directly located at the river meadow of the Ems (a river in north-western Germany), which is a beautiful nature reserve, we baptized it “Auenhof” (the farm at the river meadow). Today, we farm approx. 45 ha of land and we keep cows for milk production. We also keep some hens, cocks and pigs to sell their produce in our farm shop. Our own cheese dairy, in which we refine our milk, represents the heart of our home. On our farm area, we have some wells which we use as water sources. Thanks to regular maintenance, we can keep up our water quality. In our region irrigation of the arable land is not costum and we don’t do it. Our whole philosophy is orientated towards a sustainable and natural production and processing. On the roof of our cowshed, there is a photovoltaic system which produces solar energy. On our own initiative, we leave fallow land and “honey meadows”, and we sow varied herbs and blends of flowers in order to protect the insects and the environment. With our “Wiesenkombischleppe” (a kind of harrow), we break up and smooth out the surface of the soil and remove the weeds from it. Before the flowering season, stinging nettles and thistles are mulched. This how we avoid pesticides. Four members of the Schulte Bisping family work at “Auenhof”. These are Birgit Schulte Bisping as well as the three oldest children (we are five children in total): Sebastian, Florian and Felix. After the death of our father / husband Antonius Schulte Bisping, his best friend Maik Niese became involved in our agricultural business. Over the last few years, our team has little by little grown thanks to the three children becoming adults. Maik and Birgit have been working in our company for a long time. Obviously, our work is characterised by a high level of individual initiative and we prove ourselves hard-working. Nevertheless, each of us has individual freedoms and a lot of flexibility. Therefore, all persons involved feel comfortable and enjoy working here. We give great importance to high quality and extraordinary processing, so that merely tiny amounts of waste arise. The produced whey is used as a by-product for the feeding of our pigs as well as for the fertilisation of our arable lands. If we have production surpluses, we hand them over to a food bank which, in turn, distributes them to people in need of our region.
