Adopt a lemon tree of our farm "Arancebio" in Francofonte (Italy) and receive your harvest in the form of organic lemons at home. Danilo will take care of your adoption and take its picture. You will also be able to download the adoption certificate, and if you wish, plan your visit to the farm. You do not enter into any long-term commitment: although your adoption will be renewed automatically, you will always be informed in advance and may decide to cancel your adoption at any time as long as the preparation has not yet begun.
Adopt a lemon tree that we cultivate under the Organic Farming regulations of the European Union since 2004. During the process of adoption you can choose a name which we will use to identify your lemon tree. The “Femminello Siracusano” lemon is a variety occurring as a budding mutation from the normal lemon but it has a higher vitamin C and citric acid content that imparts a unique flavor. This variety is very well received and appreciated worldwide and is among the most cultivated varieties of lemons in Italy. Its name "femminello" (female) is due to the plant's remarkable fertility. In fact, it produces lemons all year round. The Lemon Femminello Siracusano blooms three times during the year: the Bianchetto between April and June with a light yellow peel, the Verdello between July and September with a light green peel and the Primofiore between October and March with a green or light yellow skin. Our lemon trees, as our other fruits are not treated with phytochemicals nor any other plant protective chemicals before nor after picking . This ensures a good and healthy product respecting our philosophy that is that of protecting the environment and our customers’ health. Our lemons are not over processed, they are picked as orders are received and immediately boxed and shipped. The productive life of a lemon tree is around 50 years. For as long as you want to keep it and we can continue taking care of it, you can renew your adoption year after year. If your lemon tree dies, we will replace it with no additional cost and assuring the delivery of your harvest from others. A lemon tree from our farm produces an average of 90 kg each season. You do not have to commit to the consumption of the whole harvest. Each season you may decide what quantity to reserve and pay the maintenance in accordance with the amount you reserve. This way you will only pay for what you consume and we can plan and sell the remaining harvest amount to others.
During the season, you will be able to receive the harvest that you are reserving now: a minimum of 2 and a maximum of 20 boxes. Once you paid for the adoption, you will be able to plan your shipments from your user account. Shipping format: __4,5kg box of Lemon Femminello Siracusano__ * Femminello Siracusano (beginning of December until April): light yellow pulp, the skin color varies from green to yellow, and it is slightly wrinkly in appearance and rich in essential oils, very few seeds, typical lemon flavor with a high acidity taste and very juicy, elliptical shaped fruit elongated at the ends * Organic farming certified by the European Organic Farming seal since 2004 * Harvest on request, shipped without wax or preservative treatments in a cardboard box without plastics * One kilo contains between 4 and 6 fruits * Our farm is not a screw factory: each fruit is unique in appearance and size * If you keep them in a fresh and airy place, they can last 3 weeks in good condition (if you want them to last longer, you can keep them in the fridge) * You'll see that the first lemons of the season may have a greenish hue, but over the weeks they'll take on the typical yellow tone of this variety Our lemons and their skins can be safely used to create lemon flavored liquors and for pastries. Thanks to its organoleptic characteristics, and high citric acid content, they can be used to prepare excellent thirst-quenching drinks.
When will you receive it?
The Farmer will collect your harvest on demand and just before shipment so you will receive it fresh, not treated with wax or other preservatives. The Femminello Siracusano lemon starts ripening at the beginning of December. Shipments are available from December and can last until April. Picking and shipment are directly dependent on weather conditions that can vary from season to season. Our geographical area weather is not only influenced by the Mediterranean Sea but also by the microclimate created by the nearby volcano Mt.Etna.
